What It Does
-=-=-=-=-=-=
Ok.. this is simple. It reads from a file called QUOTES. This is an ascii file
with one liners [The quotes can only be 79 characters]. It picks one of them
randomly, and then sends it through the modem (or to a file called THEQUOTE.QOD).
How To Run It
+++++++++++++
Again, this is simple. Make a directory with all the Quote O' The Day files in
it. Then, edit the QOFDAY.CFG to your needs.
QOFDAY.CFG, an ASCII file, should contain the following:
<com port #>
<SEND or FILE>
<com port #> is a whole number from 1 to 4. <SEND or FILE> means SEND if
you want to have it send it to the user, or FILE if you want it to just send it
to a file. Example:
2
SEND
This means you want it to SEND it to the user over Com port #2.
If you choose FILE, it sends the quote to a file called THEQUOTE.QOD.
Once the CFG is set up, you can run it! To run QOFDAY, you do the following:
QOFDAY <ANSI>
ANSI is a number, 0 or 1. 0 means No Ansi, 1 means Ansi. If you don't
specify 0 or 1, it will not use ANSI. Example:
QOFDAY 1
This will send the Quote with some color to it.
(On Telegard Systems, you can use QOFDAY as a menu command, and use @G to specify
color or not.)
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
: OTHER COOL OPTIONS :
''''''''''''''''''''''
Another cool option is that you can use QOFDAY as an event. On Telegard
systems, this is useful. You can make a BAT file like the following:
QOFDAY 1
COPY THEQUOTE.QOD C:\BBS\AFILES\LOGON3.ANS
QOFDAY 0
COPY THEQUOTE.QOD C:\BBS\AFILES\LOGON3.MSG
What this does is runs Quote O' The Day, and makes an ANSI quote. Then it
copies the file to the ANSI Logon file. Then it runs QOFDAY again, and makes
an ASCII quote. Then it copies the file to the ASCII logon file.
[[[ REGISTERING ]]]
[[[-------------]]]
Ah yes, the old favorite. You can use this trial version for 30 days, but if you
continue to use it, you must register. Registering this program costs a mere $5.
It took alot of time and effort to do this. By registering, you will receive all
new versions. They can be received via Peachy's BBS explained below, or by mail.
If you choose the mail route, you must fill out the order form, and pay for
shipping and handling. If you don't register, the buggy little
[ Please Register This Copy! ] appears, but nothing bad happens, except
maybe you going to the place below.
